Humbling Day……
There are many times in a business person’s life where they feel like they have succeeded. Selling the most that month, setting a new quality record or even becoming sales person of the month are just some of the few “carrots” hung out in front to make people go above and beyond in their profession.
This morning I did none of that….I didn’t talk to a single client, didn’t knock on one door for a referral…I didn’t even check my emails this morning…gasp. But I had one of the most gratifying and fulfilling days of my professional life.
In conjunction with Paul’s Quality Collision and SMCC I had the honor to host and facilitate our “No texting and Driving” High School Tour. I must say that my hats are off to the student body and the administration of SMCC. They were nothing short of superb with attentiveness and cooperation. It was amazing to sit and watch nearly 500 students engage in the speakers and then finally the dramatic video. Watching them come down one row at a time and take a pledge to not only stop texting and driving themselves but to hold their friends accountable was surreal. Student after student actually came up and thanked us for coming! In this world of “blame the teens” mentality that most have, today was a reminder that with a little coaching and love these kids are going to to do amazing things.
So my call is to all business owners out there to make a difference. Don’t throw money at events or advertising but rather get involved. We have the means and support to do so many positive things for our community and i hope that you all find something to impact the world with…..besides a bottom line or profit….
Once all pictures and the video are complete we will pass along.
Special thank you to: Patience Z Photography, TK Productions and Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan.
